was just having a debate with sam about giving offerings to a church. i agree that we all give offerings to our respective church, temples or what not...but i jus dont agree that we should be told how much to give. this is something that should be done within our means.
if we only earn so much... can afford so much, then we'll give that much...
i know chc is not the only church that make their mbrs tie a percentage of their income to the church...but i jus think that's wrong.
i found out that they actually spent 48 million on building their church at jurong!!!!! that's a disgusting amount!! so much more can be done with that amount!!
spending 48 million on aircon, cushioned seats, plasma tv's all over, huge camera's rolling, expensive equipment, band....what for???
then he said...it's cos the christian faith believe that as long as the house of god is nice and splendour, then god will bless us all.....
unbelievable....blind faith...that's what it can do to make some people very rich...and make the less fortunate hope that they too can be better off....
i know much have been done by the church, helping the poor and needy...helping those in other countries that's disaster prone...not denying that...but that amount?!?!?! can be used to do so much more!
i too give offerings ...the guanyin temple i visit at waterloo street is nice too...dunno how much they spent rebuliding it...but without those comforts and luxuries...i dun think it's comparable...
so anyway...had a long debate...bottem line is, it's all about faith...i'm in no position to challenge it...in every religion there are fanatics...cant avoid that...
but had to jump to another topic...cos i was too disgusted to carry on....
hmmm......let's see....
oh met up with an old fren yesterday...old old primary school fren...and after all these years...we really hitted it off last night...
talked about death, lonliness, relationships, being 2-timed, and being dumped...haha....
it's amazing....guess when you have not seen someone for very long, there are more things to talk about cos we've each accumulated experiences in each other's absence...and that's really nice and wonderful a feeling...
oh dear...seriously need to go work out...feel so flabby!!! eeckk....
